We’ve updated the schedule information for the symposium and uploaded a program at a glance PDF, and I wanted to make sure folks know.
There are still details to be fleshed out, but the schedule’s bones are in place. And the fact that the schedule isn’t 100% final yet is intentional—in part because a detailed program can give the illusion that everything’s done, and all that’s left is for you and us to show up.
But we know showing up isn’t enough. We all have to be engaged and expend effort to make the symposium a true learning experience. To allow what we learn to change how we think and act, so the symposium can improve the reach, revenue, and impact of our learning businesses.
I happen to have recently come across an invitation to a four-year-old’s dinosaur-themed birthday party that included a schedule accounting for every minute of the two-hour party (including, rather recklessly, a full fifteen minutes devoted to free play).
If you’re looking for an equivalent level of detail in the symposium schedule, you won’t be satisfied.
But if you can appreciate good bones and recognize that you, as participant and learner, are a part of what will add flesh to the schedule and bring the the symposium to life, then you’ll like to see how the symposium is shaping up.
Think of the program at a glance as an invitation to come and join everyone—faculty, advisers, attendees—who’s investing in making the symposium a great (or should I say dino-mite?) learning experience.
